Research, Regulation, and the Future of Care

Scientific interest in psychedelic medicines has grown substantially, but enthusiasm should not be confused with established clinical approval. Different substances are at different stages of research and regulation. Study results must be interpreted alongside limitations, risks, patient-selection requirements, and the need for trained support.

Psilocybin Research

Psilocybin is being studied for possible therapeutic applications, including treatment-resistant depression and end-of-life psychological distress. Findings remain investigational, and psilocybin is not currently approved for general clinical use.

MDMA has been studied in combination with structured psychotherapy for post-traumatic stress disorder. Results have generated significant interest, but availability and regulatory status continue to evolve, and MDMA is not currently approved for routine clinical use.
